My old friend and former co-worker, Jim Harris, sent us oodles of art from down under. It will be on display by November 17 along with a host of other new children’s illustrations from an eye-popping array of illustrators.
Jim is best known for his light-hearted and whimsical picture book characters. Among his best selling books are perennial favorites such as Ten Little Dinosaurs and The Tortoise and the Jackrabbit, and regional classics ranging from the Cajun Petite Rouge to the Southwestern The Three Little Javelinas. Jim’s newest book releases are Ten Little Puppies (Fall 2009) and Jacques and the Beanstalk (Spring 2010). Jim’s illustrations have received numerous publishing and illustration awards, including the merit award from Communication Arts magazine and the Silver Medal from the New York Society of Illustrators. Jim’s publishing clients include Sesame Street and Ranger Rick magazines, National Geographic Books and the Danbury Mint. Jim lives with his family at the end of a dirt road overlooking the sea on the South Island of New Zealand. http://jimharrisillustrator.com/
